Fargo business broken into, set on fire

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – One FPN Gaming employee arrived to find smoke coming from the building Monday morning.

While the business is preparing for wedding season, employees were hoping for the best Monday after learning of a break-in and fire.

“Donny, our operations manager for Power Play DJ, gave me a call right away at 8 this morning that there was smoke coming out of the building so not exactly the Monday I was looking forward to start the week,” said Brook Lyter, owner of FPN Gaming & Dakota Poker Tour.

Fire crews were called to FPN Gaming in the 4100 block of 38th St. S. around 8:15 am on Monday, June 6 for reports of a fire.

Lyter and other employees at FPN gaming said two people broke into the building and rummaged through the warehouse for a few hours looking for items to steal. Surveillance video shows, with a gas can in hand, they started a fire in one of the offices.

“Pretty scary, because we’ve got a lot of equipment and stuff like that, that we were concerned about,” said Lyter.

Firefighters found a small fire in the office and were able to quickly put it out.

“The good news is it seems like it was contained pretty good, so I’m not looking at catastrophic damage, I was really worried about it when I got the phone call and when I got here,” said Lyter.

Lyter and employees said the fire could’ve been worse if it spread to their pull tab inventory.

Damage estimates are not known yet, but Lyter says they discovered sound systems stolen from two of their limos from the Fargo Party bus.

“We have I think 11 weddings to do this weekend and so you know what kind of damage are we looking at? What kind of, what are we dealing with here? Definitely a concern of mine right away,” said Lyter.

The Fargo Fire and Police Departments continue to investigate and are working together to figure out who started the fire.

Lyter said they are still assessing what all stolen, but said they stole powered speakers, a mixing board, at least 3 laptops, video cameras, and other various equipment.

It is an active investigation, if you know any information, reach out to Fargo Police Department.
