Mayoral Campaign
The combined total raised during the Mayoral campaign was slightly more than €89,000. The winner was Jimmy ‘Shuggs’ Gahan, who raised a little over €50k, with runner-up, Louise Lawless, raising almost €39k during her campaign. The final totals were announced in the Harrow on Saturday night last, the 27th. of August and both candidates would like to thank everyone in Boolavogue and the surrounding area for all their support
School News
Boolavogue National School reopens for the pupils after the Summer holidays tomorrow Wednesday the 31st of August. The gates will open at 9.10am and the pupils are asked to be in their seats by 9.20am. Parents and guardians are asked to download the Aladdin app as all communication will be via this app.
Junior ‘B’ Football
Our Junior ‘B’ footballers got their championship campaign off to a good start, beating a fancied Duffry Rovers side by 1-10 to 1-2 on Friday last. Neighbors Oulart who beat Rathnure the same night are their next opponents and this game will be this Friday at 2nd. of September at 7.00pm in Oulart.
BREE-GALBALLY
Revised Parish Mass Times
From Sept 1st the following Mass times will be in operation in the parish. Saturday evening Galbally at 6pm and Bree at 7.30pm. Sunday morning Bellevue at 9am and Bree at 10am. Masses during th week will be Bellevue Tuesday evening at 7pm, Bree Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9am and Galbally Thursday at 9am.
Bree Country Fest
Bree Country Fest takes place on September 3rd. Gates open at 6.30pm and artists featured are Stuart Moyles, Cliona Hagan and Derek Ryan. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and in Hammel’s Centra Bree, Maxol Abra Enniscorthy & Butchers Best, New Ross.
Solo Exhibition by Anne Martin Walsh
A Site Specific Solo Exhibition, entitled My Bones are Creaking Hawthorn, will be held at Wilton Mills, Craane, Bree on 3rd and 4th of September 1pm–6pm. Opening Saturday 3rd September at 1pm with Guest speaker Cllr Barbara Anne Murphy and Poetry reading by Ross Walsh.
Ladies fitness boot camp
Classes include cardio, kettlebells, circuits and lots of fun. Every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9.15 am and also Monday evenings at 6.30 pm in Bree Community Centre. Wednesday evenings at 7pm in Galbally Community Centre. Starting September 5th–All classes €8 PAYG.
GAA Lotto
The numbers drawn in the Ballyhogue GAA Lotto on Wednesday August 17th were 14, 16, 26, 27. There was no Jackpot winner. Match 3 winners – Janet Daly, Andy Fraser, Paddy Murphy – Barmoney. Next draw is 31st August with the Jackpot at €1200.
Bree Vintage Run
Bree Vintage Club annual Road Run will take place on September 18th. The proceeds this year will be shared between LauraLynn and the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.
All vehicles welcome as long as they are road worthy. Registration opens at 11.30am and the Run will set off from Byrne=92s Yard at 1pm.
National Community Games Silver Medals
Congratulations to Mary, Kate and Teresa O’Donoghue on winning silver medals in the National Community Games U16 Contemporary Irish Dancing last weekend in Carlow. Well done to Joseph O’Donoghue in the U12 Solo Singing and to Mary O’Donoghue in the U16 Recitation who performed well but were not amongst the medallists. All were representing Bree Davidstown Cloughbawn Community Games.
Galbally Hall
The hall is available for hire for special occasions, classes, training and sports/craft fairs and car boot sales. There was no winner or online winner of the Kildavin-Clonegal GAA and Ben Mulhall Park lotto draw of €10,000 held on Sunday, August 7. Numbers drawn were 1, 3, 7 and eight. County Champions
Congratulations to the Duffry Rovers under-14 camogie team who beat Kilrush in the Premier County Championship at Farmleigh on Saturday last and brought the Sandra Cooney Memorial Cup back to the parish for the second year in a row. A massive well done, you battled for every ball and well deserved, the club and indeed the parish are very proud of each and every one of you.

Lord of the Rings
Duffry Rovers GAA Club ‘Lord of the Rings’ hurling and football competitions takes place at Ballycrystal Racecourse on Sunday next, September 4, with many events scheduled. Also children’s underage hurling and camogie, bottle stall, duck racing and lots of entertainment on the day including Ballindaggin Pipe Band. Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing is back and planning to begin the second weekend in September. The rules are simple.
Pick one Premier League team you think will win their game at the weekend, if they win you pick again next week, lose or draw and you’re out, you can’t pick the same team twice. The selections must be in before 8 pm on Friday. (don’t worry we’ll send reminders). Failing to send in your selection will result in you being allocated the next available team alphabetically (ie Arsenal, or if you have already picked them you will be given Aston Villa and so on). If you pass round one you pick again for the following week and keep going till everyone else is eliminated and we have the last man standing. Entry is €10 with €500 for the winner.
