NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – The latest restaurant restrictions are coming to an end.
As of Monday, New York restaurants and bars can be served after midnight. This move is because New York City and New York state have COVID positivity rates below one percent.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has predicted that lifting the curfew will boost economic activity and growth for companies in trouble.
At Tin Martin, business looks better for co-owner Henry Gonzalez.
“Thank goodness everyone is back. All of our staff is back and we’ve added new people too,” said Gonzalez.
He will likely need the extra help as city issues lift the indoor meal curfew.
“New York is not New York unless it’s after midnight,” said Liam McGoohan.
The decision to lift the curfew, like so many others last year, was based on the numbers – COVID positivity rates in the city and state are at record lows. To date, nearly 19 million doses of vaccine have been administered in New York
Most restaurant owners say that the additional outdoor dining area will boost business. So far, the city plans to keep the makeshift outdoor dining areas.
