Northern Irish man looking for his soulmate in the new series from Married at First Sight UK

A Northern Irish man with a passion for hiking, meditation and swimming in cold water is part of a group of singles looking for their happy life on the new series on reality TV show Married at First Sight UK.

Aniel, 27, whose last name is not yet known, works in sales and decided to join the series to learn how to change his relationship pattern.

The show’s return follows the success of its Australian counterpart and focuses on eight couples meeting at the altar for the first time. This new series will also feature an all-male mating.

In the revamped E4 version of the popular program, instead of entering into legal marriages, couples will make a lifetime commitment in a glamorous ceremony. The ceremonies are overseen by a wedding celebrant who includes guests, wedding dresses, dancing, speeches and cake.

After the ceremony and festivities are over, true love is thoroughly tested when they go on their honeymoon before moving in with each other and with their other couples.

Relationships are scrutinized by newlyweds at weekly dinner parties – as well as by experts at recurring engagement ceremonies, where couples can choose whether to stay in the process or drop out.

Daniel, a vegetarian, is described as “a spiritual force to be reckoned with”. According to the show’s creators, its “contagious positivity will convince the closest person to open up and discuss the meaning of life”.

When asked what kind of soulmate he was hoping to find, Daniel said someone was “open-minded” who could enjoy and share their lifestyle.

“Getting married at First Sight UK is a great experience and quite nerve-wracking in many ways,” he said. “However, it is something that will allow me to change my relationship pattern and it is a blessing to have the professional and scientific advice to help me.”

Factual Entertainment commissioned editor Lee McMurray said, “I am delighted to be refreshing one of the portfolio’s most beloved brands for E4 and adding scope and ambition to what is already one of the most daring and provocative experiments on television most exciting series so far. “

The new series is expected to air on E4 in the fall.
