But her excitement was dashed after she woke up Thursday morning to a “dull” email from Hull College Craven Park confirmed that her wedding reception had been canceled.

The couple planned to hold the ceremony at the Guildhall, followed by a reception at the Hull Kingston Rovers home.
On Thursday morning, just nine days before the big day, they received an email from Hull KR saying, “I’m sorry to write you this email, but we have been told about it by Sky since last night Informs that we must now postpone our game from September 12th to September 11th, the day of your reception.

“Unfortunately, that means that we cannot hold your reception here at the club.
“We apologize and we did not make this decision easy for us, but unfortunately it is not in our hands. We will of course reimburse you for all payments made if you provide us with your bank details.

He shared, “The thing is, Hull KR just doesn’t seem to care. I don’t complain about a lot, but that’s heartbreaking.
“You keep blaming new people to take over the helm. It got to the point that we didn’t even know who was running our wedding reception. We ended up dealing with about eight different people.
“They just say ‘it is what it is’. They didn’t even have the grace to call us – it’s our wedding day.

“There is no excuse for that. You are like ‘sorry bye’. We put our heart and soul into the whole day.
“Kerry is so upset and I want to comfort her, but I have work to do after spending so much on the wedding.

David said the couple worked very hard last year to save £ 6,000 to spend on whatever they wanted for the wedding.
Now they are out of reception and are asking the local venues to get in touch with them to host their big day on September 11th.
“I hope we can reach out to venues to help us as I only know we are getting married that day,” he said. “I honestly don’t know what we’re going to do if we don’t get a venue.

“We’ve been together for 11 years so the time has come. Kerry means everything to me. She helped me become who I am.”
He added, “We both know what it’s like to be in other relationships – but there is nothing like it in this one.
“She’s so real. She’s like no one I’ve ever met in my life. We’ll get married that day, no matter what.”
Hull KR declined to comment when contacted.
