Wales pub and restaurant rules apply when hospitality re-opens on Monday in the house

Pubs, cafes and restaurants will open indoors in Wales starting Monday, and while this is a huge relief for operators, it is not quite what it is common.

The sector has been working with the Welsh government on the rules that will apply once the interior hospitality opens.

The guidelines have now been published by UKHospitality Cymru. They contain rules about who can meet and whether a pub quiz can take place.

Welsh Government State: “The hospitality industry should consider safety a priority at all times and recognize that visiting a pub, bar, coffee shop or restaurant should not feel like it used to be.

“We are committed to each other and to the businesses that we all enjoy and that others rely on to make a living. The sector is open. Let’s keep it that way as we do our part to keep the coronavirus under control to keep and protect Wales. ” . “

Some important rules

Who can meet

The maximum number of people who can meet outside and inside in restaurants is 6 people from 6 households.

It is worth noting that the 6 does not include children under the age of 11 or a person caring for someone attending such a gathering. They are exempt and mean that larger family gatherings can take place.

If a single household (not an extended household) contains more than 6 people, everyone can meet together, provided that everyone present lives at the same address.

Social distancing and 2 meters

All regulated premises must take all reasonable steps to ensure that social distancing requirements of 2 meters between tables are met.

However, appropriate remedial measures should be taken within the venue, e.g. B. Remedial action between tables where it is not possible to keep 2 meters of space and maximize ventilation. This gives the owners some flexibility if 2 meters is not feasible or practical in their building.

If there are up to 6 people at the same table, the company and customers should still make every effort to ensure that they maximize the distance from one another at the table

Contact information

In all licensed and unlicensed hotel establishments, it is mandatory to collect contact information for all staff and adult (over 18) customers or visitors. This means that you record the person’s name and phone number, the date of the visit, and the arrival and departure times and keep them for 21 days.

Sit down pints

Customers must sit in licensed premises at all times (except at a bar) when they order, are served with and consume food or drinks. If the necessary infrastructure to take payment at the table is missing, a customer can pay at the counter.

In unlicensed premises, customers can order and pay at the counter while maintaining social distancing, but should consume food and drink at their table.

Quiet please

Loud noises that require people to raise their voices or scream to increase aerosol spread must be avoided.

This means that TV shows and recorded music should be kept at a background level. Dancing, singing and performing live are currently not permitted.

Play, but play quizzes

Businesses are asked to prohibit joint activities in restaurants that may cause people to break the rules for gatherings, break rule 6 (if applicable), or make social distancing impracticable, e.g. B. skittles, darts, billiards and other “pub games”.

Other activities that can be safely done that do not prevent social distancing can be viewed on their own. For example, a quiz that maintains separate groups and complies with the rules of gatherings and social distancing (e.g., where each group collects and keeps their own quiz sheet) may be allowed.

Face masks

The rules enforce the use of face covers for employees at all times and ensure that customers wear face covers when they are not at their table.
