Hygiene is always important when choosing a restaurant to visit, but it has never been more important for the country to return to restaurants where Covid-19 is still going on.
While the pandemic will still be on many people’s minds, the public will look forward to returning to their favorites and trying new destinations that will hopefully live up to expectations.
That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the lowest-rated restaurants and cafes for food hygiene in Bromley, southeast London, which has 2,394 venues, and Lewisham, which has 2,475.
The following list was calculated using the Food Standards Agency’s 0-5 level system and includes all restaurants listed under “0” or “1” in Bromley and Lewisham on the agency’s website.
In order to be as current as possible, the list only includes reviews from early 2019 to April 17, 2021.
The agency says ‘0’ ratings = “Urgent improvement needed”.
Food agency
Agency inspectors who review food hygiene in restaurants to apply the ratings later review the following three items:
- How hygienically food is handled: how it is prepared, cooked, heated, cooled and stored
- The condition of the structure of the building: the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities
- How the company manages what it does to ensure food is safe and the officer can rest assured that standards will continue to be met in the future
